"Schau mir in die Augen": Blutgericht

The new mini 3-track "album" by Blutgericht, "Schau mir in die Augen", should be available for free on their German and English websites at the start of 2007. I was lucky enough to get a pre-listen to the songs and, although I don't know what the songs are about, I really liked them!!

The first song, "Ein einzelner Mann", is excellent!! Has a very nice, long, heavy and fast paced intro leading to vocals that include growls and screams mixed in with somewhat calmer tones. Ok, that might sound weird but it works well!! This is all accompanied by heavy drums & the classic Blutgericht twangy, well, I think it's a bass. I'm not too knowledgeable on instruments, but it's good stuff!!

The next song, "Tyrann", starts out quite nicely but I really didn't care much for the refrain/chorus of the song. The melodic path that the vocals followed didn't quite appeal to me but the music, for the most part, is great!!

The third, and last, song is the title track, "Schau mir in die Augen" and it started out rather slow which was a major concern for me as I am not a fan of slow/ballad type songs. This one however picks up the pace quite a bit and I really like the raw vocals here!! The music is fairly basic (though it does have a good dose of that twang) but it's good, a very nice song. It is definately one of my favorites off this mini album.

Basically, I would definately recommend that people download this album, hell, it's free anyway, but not everything free is good... This is, though!! Check it out and pass the word around - Blutgericht rocks!!! Mikki 12/06
