"Couchparty": SprottenRock![]() SprottenRock is a really fun band that has a very nice mix of rock, pop-punk, hip hop and ska combined with a droll sense of humor... Their 2003 release, "Couchparty" starts out with a story about a little blue fish, well, my German reeks so that's about as much as I really understood... I think he lives alone or something... Makes me wonder about these Germans & fish ("Bleib Tapfer", anyone???), but I digress... This is followed by a very decent song called, "Eis zum Gehen" about people wanting to hear the same old crap so they'll play it to get rich, "Eis, Eis baby" Yo! The title song, "Couchparty" is about hanging out alone & having no interest in being social, nothing wrong with that! Not my fave but it's decent... This is all followed by part one of three chapters of a story of 2 *chipmunk* voiced people trying to get into a show... It's called "Das Konzert" & the whole thing is great! Very amusing! Here they are denied access to the show :( Then it's one of my favorite songs, "Hamster-Song". It's oddly addictive & just kind of burns itself into your brain! Yeah, sounds scary but if you like things being burned into your brain, as I know you all do, this is a good song for you! Plus it's funny! Except that the very clever animal ends up in a new home that's only 10X5 cm wide... Tsk, tsk... Next is "Alter Mann" about some creepy guy you'd do best to avoid - good song, has the slow/fast thing going on... "n' Abendstimmung" is also pretty rocking and incorporates a kind of hip hop style of singing- a funny song about getting trashed - always a worthwhile endeavour, or maybe not... "Das Konzert" continues & our friends start fighting, like physically fighting, lol - something about 100 Euros, other than that, I don't know... it's funny though... "Waddikann" has a definate ska beat going on & the theme seems to be "everyone hates me but I'll keep doing this while I can". Not exactly a chipper song but it's good, just a bit repetitive... Then we have "Fingersong II" I have nooo idea where #1 is but anyway it's a bit hard to describe, kind of a messing around song or something, best to hear it for yourselves... "Räggi" is next - they found a French guy who speaks English! Unglaublich, haha! Anyway, it's a bit slower and oddly enough reminds me somehow of another band, The Plums ... same area maybe? Anyway, good song. "Das Konzert III" is my favorite chapter of the 3, the bouncer is funny & our friends make it in time to see the band leave the stage, they're all sad, poor little chipmunk people... "Skapu" is another good sounding song but not a happy one... & that is followed by 3 instrumentals: "Banjo Massaker" is pretty short and not bad, "MotherFucker" is awesome!!! I like that song alot & then the last is "Chill Out" which is pretty good but not as good as the song before it... "MotherFucker" rules! So basically, I thought this was an excellent album and very fun to listen to. The production is quite good, it has a professional sound and anyone who likes upbeat music should give it a listen, even some gloomy lyrics for the goths to like! ;) Viel spass!!!
