"Auf dem Weg": Tinnitus![]() "Auf dem Weg" is the debut album by the band, Tinnitus from Rheinbrohl, Germany. As it was released in 2000, it's not exactly "new" but it's new to me so it's all good! The album starts out with the title song which is a sort of band introduction of sorts, "Tinnitus ist hier und wir sind auf dem Weg in dein Ohr". This song is great & the perfect way to start an album, very full of energy! The next song, "Die Welt und ich" is basically a song about being a loser is also quite energetic & very catchy with raw vocals & a nice bass beat. "Ich hasse euch" is the first song I'd ever heard by Tinnitus & thus it holds a very special place in my heart! ("awwww", yeah, yeah) This song really rocks & is the very reason why I have this CD in my hands right now! I love this song!!! "Teddybär" starts out quite slow and while it picks up a bit, it's still a bit less energetic than the previous songs. I still like it alot, more raw vocals and catchy melodies. "Vision" is great also & basically deals with how nice life was when one was younger & everything was innocent & so carefree... "eSkaliert" has, yes, a kind of ska thing going on, in case you you thought that capital S was just a typo. It appears to be about getting drunk & getting into fights (too many unknown words to look up at 2am). It's an ok song but didn't really do as much for me as the others have... "U.F.O" is next & is about aliens doing all those bad things that aliens are known for doing... I like this song but the chorus, "U.F.O., unidentifiziertes Flugobjekt" doesn't really sound like something that rolls easily off even a German's tongue & don't we all know what a UFO is anyway??? The flow seems a bit uneven but I still like it. Next is "Scheiss auf die Maus". I don't think you'll need many guesses to figure out which mouse they're singing about ;) It's quite catchy & has some really funny lyrics! Great song! I'm not quite sure what to say about the next song, "Eure List". First time I heard it I was quite certain I didn't like it but I also had a feeling that it'd grow on me & it has... it's slow, acoustic & well, could be considered depressing maybe. It was also sung by Bastian instead of Ron but that's not a problem, it's just very... different. But I like it, sort of... I think... The rest of the album is smooth sailing though, I'm quite certain of my love for everything from this point on!!! "Was soll ich noch sagen" is a "Deutschland muss sterben" type of song & starts off a bit slow & then just totally rocks! Great song! "Feuchte Träume" - well, maybe you understand the title, "Wet dreams", & that's what it's about! Great sound, runs through my head at inopportune moments quite often! "Was wollt ihr hören" - a break-up song. It's so rocking, one of my favourites off this album, actually! "Autobahn der Liebe" is next & ok, the title is a little cheesy ("Highway of love", gah!) & even the lyrics could be considered to be dwelling in the realm of cheese ("ich fahr zu schnell auf der Autobahn der Liebe", I gah again!) & the background vocals could have used some work maybe but I still like this song alot. It has a good sound & what I consider classic Tinnitus vocals. Good song, even if it IS a little cheesy ;) But now it's time for the last song on the album (group cry, not sigh, is in order)... But it's a cover of the Clash song, "should I stay", so that's at least a nice way to say goodbye... It actually sounds almost exactly like the Clash but... who wants to change a Clash song anyway, they're like gods, you know!! So basically, This is most definately one of my favorite albums ever & I have alot of albums! It's very energetic & just a joy to listen to, very fun! I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a punkish sound or just looking for something a little different. It quite simply ROCKS!!! Mikki 8/05 Get it from:
