"Antikörper": Eisbrecher

The new Eisbrecher album, "Antikörper", which came out in October, 2006, is so far removed from their first album that I am forced to call the band something else - Megaherz 2 - the new and improved version.

I have to admit that I really liked the first, self entitled, Eisbrecher CD and was a bit disappointed when I initially heard "Antikörper" but that was a problem with my expectations and this harder musical style not matching up.

I think the best song on this album for me is the second track, "Adrenalin" (following an instrumental opener). The music is great & the chorus is just excellent!! Other highlights are, of course, the pre-released songs, "Lieder" and "Vergissmeinnicht" but "Kinder der Nacht" is also very good as well as "Ohne Dich". The only songs that really didn't strike me as overly impressive were "Anti-körper" and "Phosphoer". I actually pretty much dislike them, they just don't have the appeal to me that makes a song stay with me. In, out and gone.

Basically all I can say is that this is a MUCH harder album than it's predecessor with dark German lyrics, (well, that sort of stayed the same anyway). I thought it was actually a very good album, despite not liking a couple songs. The other songs are great but it still didn't feel like an *Eisbrecher* album to me. It's a great album, with hard driving guitars and electronics and is a must have for any fan of hard German electronic metal. Just don't expect anything like the first album, it's not... Mikki 11/06
