![]() Bionic Brit interview: Thanx to Bionic Brit for taking the time to do this interview! You can buy a signed copy of their CD, "Lautspeaker" at CD Baby. Good price & it's shipped from the US so go do that right Now!!! -Mikki 12/04 DML: Could you tell us exactly how the three of you got together to form Bionic Brit? Bionic Brit: We used to work together at a firm called "Syrincs",we all were students, became friends and formed the band! DML: Tell us something about the band name. Also, you proclaim yourselves as "as British as a German band can sound like." Apparently a point of pride - does this mean you have a strong interest in the British music scene/style of music?
Bionic Brit: It stands for itself really. DML: You also sing some in German. Wouldn't it be easier to just sing in German? Are there any German artists that have influenced your music style? Bionic Brit: No. There are rare german bands that could influence us. Even the German songs have a British way about them. We don`t change the style whilst changing the language I suppose. DML: How would you describe the Bionic Brit sound to one unfamiliar with your music? Bionic Brit: The sound of bb stretches from cute pop with the older stuff we made to the more dirt punk rock sound of the new releases. The melodic aspect should always stands in front! Relate it with Placebo, the older U2 or even the German Beatsteaks. DML: How did each of you get interested in making music? (What artists have influenced you over the years? - if this question wasn't answered already) Bionic Brit: There`s no definite statement to that. Maybe it just wasn`t good enough just listening to music!? DML: Could you tell us what messages you try to convery through your music? Bionic Brit: The sense of making music means to xpress emotions that one often can`t bring out in words. Our music and lyrics are stations and moments of our (of my) lives. A girlfriend said about it:" It`s like threading a pearl by the other to end up as a necklace. You can carry it wherever you want to and where you want it." DML: I understand the song, "Schlimmer" (good song, my fave off the "Lautspeaker" CD), will be included on the soundtrack for the independent film, "Im Feuer der Sonne". How did that come about and what was your reaction to this news/request (not sure how that whole thing works so...)? Bionic Brit: The world wide web called the producers attention to our song. He asked for using "schlimmer" in his movie and we certainly gave O.K.! Our reaction on having our song in "IM Feuer der Sonne" was overwhelming. Who wouldn`t want a song in a good film underlining the content. DML: What can one expect from a live Bionic Brit concert? Bionic Brit: First of all you watch and listen to a band seeing that they love what they doing! There`s much fun, many emotions and every concert has a different setlist. We`ve never played the same song order. We`ll take you through the ups and downs, it`s like walking with an imaginary friend. DML: I was looking at your site recently and noticed some sort of show dealing with Nirvana/Foo Fighters... This has already come and gone but could you tell us what that was all about & how that went? Bionic Brit: A special friend of mine, Tom Hinze, who himself is an outstanding singer and guitarplayer came up with the idea of a yearly unplugged concert being the "Grohl-Cobain-Connexion" to cover songs from Nirvana and the FF. The gig was a tremendous hit-there will be more to follow. DML: What other project/plans/goals does Bionic Brit have 2005 and onward? Bionic Brit: We`ll be producing our new CD as a longplayer with 12-13 songs in January and it`ll contain half German half English material. Hopefully available in summer of 2005! A tour is planned in spring which will take us through south Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Our destination is a fair contract with a record company. DML: Thank you for the interview, we're looking forward to hearing more from you soon! More at: |
