![]() Überflüssig:Überflüssig was brought into being in October, 1996 by Joscha after quitting his ex-band "Die Skirogen". The drums were played from 1996 - 1999 by Arthur, a school chum of Joscha's, who Joscha brought with him from "Die Skirogen". Denise, who later named herself Frau B Linddarm, took up the bass and since then Joscha plucked the strings and sang. With their first studio recordings and sampler contributions an interest in the band grew which also led to Arthur being shown the door when his head got too big.In March, 1999 Samson became the new drummer. The first single, "Chaostage", in January, 2000 and the first album, "Totengräber Boogie" (Nov. 6, 2000) were the first of their own releases. After a home gig in the Röhlinghausner Bunker on Dec. 28, 2000 their bassist said goodbye as she no longer had the time or desire to be a part of the band. After that Überflüssig went forth as a punk rock duo, Joscha playing bass in the studio. Live there was just the drums, guitar and a kazoo. In July, 2001 Samson switched to bass and Alex, Joscha's brother, took his place behind the skins. On August 29, 2001 the second album, "Narrenfreiheit" appeared. In this same month, due to his unreliability, Samson was tossed from the band and since then Überflüssig has drawn attention to themselves as a strictly two man band. In March, 2005 the album, "Ist nur Spass, Baby" was released and the single, "Auf der Suche" came out in September. It appeared with a track not included on the album and the video clip was introduced on August 30th on TV-NRW. -Mikki 12/05 More at: |
