SIEGFRIED stems from the mind of Bruder Cle (alias Hagen), who in 1998 and inspired by the Niebelung Saga and other historical events contacted a variety of musicians (including members of Korova and Elend) to transform his musical vision into reality. However, it wasn't until he connected with Ortwin (Sarcasme of Syndromes) that the musical concept began to truly take form.

Ortwin and Hagen continued their work until they were joined in early 1999 by Sandra Schleret. Known for her internationally successful past with Dreams of Sanity, she provided SIEGFRIED with a feminine yet passionate signature vocal style. The following year, the band recorded Fafnir, an 8-track CD that almost reached cult status among collectors. This release also brought the band to the attention of NAPALM RECORDS, who signed them in November of the same year.

During the summer of 2001, SIEGFRIED’s debut, "Drachenherz", was recorded in Mirror Productions Studio, Innsbruck. It was produced by Roland Wurzer (DARKWELL, ANGRY ANGELS), who also laid down the bass guitar tracks. Moritz Neuner (DARKWELL, ABIGOR) joined SIEGFRIED on drums and Werner Bialek (SUBACID) took over the clear vocals, completing the band, who is anxiously awaiting to hit the road as soon as possible.
