eXTReMe Tracker

Reflected Image was originally started in 1988 as the band New Life, with members Thomas Göttgens, Jhonny Osmani, and Frank Breier, who did covers of such popular synth groups as Depeche Mode and Erasure. Attila Edvi-Illes and Michael Beckers join the band and guitarist and drummer suppost for concerts. Their first concert was at a festival in Aachen, which pushed the band in the direction to start composing their own songs.

In 1989, the band, (still as New Life), loses Michael Beckers, and goes on to record their first songs on a 4-track mixer. These recordings allowed them to be invited to television recordings in Munich. Their first cassette, Break out of Time, is made in 1990. The same year, the guitarist Attila Edvi-Illes leaves the band. New Life now becomes Reflected Image.

Their first full year as Reflected Image in 1991 was a busy year. The first organized tour was created, and took the band close to Russian borders, bringing their western synth pop music to the land. "Reflected Image" even spends time at the end of the year in a professional studio making recordings. 1992 saw the loss of another member, Jhonny Osmani. Thomas and Frank still hold the band, the same line up is still used even to this day: Thomas does the lyrics and singing, Frank does the music composing.

The first Reflected Image album, Trip, came into existance in 1993 as a cassette tape. 1994 Reflected Image becomes support for the infamous band X Marks the Pedwalk, despite differences in genres of music. By this time, the cassette album Trip is out of print, and a mail order distribution is set up for the band.

The second album of Reflected Image, Decade, was created in 1995 in Reflected Image's own studio. Between this time and 1998, Reflected Image takes time off, only to perform a concert here and there. But in 1998, an EP called Synergy is created, and many older Reflected Image songs are remastered. 1999 saw the first Reflected Image concert in almost 3 years, and the band is able to make appearances on various complilation cds. In 2000 the band tours with another synth pop band called Equatronic. In 2001, the band was able to make it to America to perform in the US syntpop convention, SynthCon 2001, and even perform concers in some US cities.

Currently, the band is about to go on the "Back to the 80s Tour" with Equatronic and Das Schwarze System. -Nick Diak 3/02
