 Puhdys:In 1965 the Puhdy's began under the name Udo-Wendel-Combo & more than 30 years & over 20 albums later they are still going strong! Though their first album wasn't released until 1974, "Puhdys 1", they had their first live show at "Tipoli" in Freiberg playing songs by Deep Purple, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Uriah Heep, Led Zeppelin & others... In 1971 150 tech students wrote a letter to the GDR TV station wanting to see the PUHDYS. But there was one problem: it was only allowed to play songs in German. So the song "Türen öffnen sich zur Stadt" was created and became their first top-hit.In 1973 they provided "Geh zur Ihr" and "Wenn ein Mensch lebt" for the movie "Die Legende von Paul und Paula" Folled by their first single which had "Geh zu Ihr" and "Zeiten und Weiten". In 1979, their tenth year anniversary they received the Golden Laurel from the GDR TV. Additionally the drummer Klaus Scharfschwerdt of the group Prinzip joined the band & the first book concerning the Puhdys appeared. In 1989 the Puhdys said goodbye with their "Good-Bye Tour" with the "Lords" (BRD) and "Turbo" (CSSR). But re-united by fan request. Yet another book "30 Jahre PUHDYS" by Uwe Beyer, the CD "PUHDYS - 1969-1999" and the CD "Wilder Frieden" appeared in 1999 & their newest, "Dezembertage" is their first Christmas album...
