![]() Prager Handgriff:PRAGER HANDGRIFF was founded in the "Ruhr area" in the spring of 1990. With this project, STEFAN SCHÄFER and VOLKER RATHMANN wanted to leave behind their unsatisfactory experiences with traditionally punk/new-wave bands & began using samplers, synthesizers and sequencers to realize their ideas. In August/September, 1990, the first tape, "Rückstand aus Vormonaten" was recorded. At that time the line up included a female keyboard player, who left the band the same year. In May 1991 PRAGER HANDGRIFF produced their second tape "Nasciturus" which sold about 200 copies. The songs "Burn my mind" and "Schwermetall" were recorded and released on the CD-compilation "Forms of E.B.M 2" in autumn, 1991. "Der Tanz der Destruktion" and "Wehret den Anfängen" followed on another CD-compilation called "Re-Beat" in December 1991. In spring, 1992, PRAGER HANDGRIFF recorded their third tape called "Retorsion" and a Live-Tape. After many concerts in spring 1992 PRAGER HANDGRIFF released two tracks, "Baskerville" and "Monsun" on the CD-compilation "Art & Dance Vol III." and "Deutschland ?" on "Art & Dance Live". After that, they released their first CD "Arglistige Täuschung" which was produced by Brenal of "Calva Y Nada". In spring, 1994, PRAGER HANDGRIFF released their second CD called "Täterschaft und Teilnahme" again at G.A. Records, followed by more compilation contributions such as the cover-version of Samantha Fox´s "Touch me" on "Undercover II.". In summer, 1995, PRAGER HANDGRIFF released their "Maschinensturm" CD (3rd Album) on a new label, "Ausfahrt Rec./ Electric Blue" & it was distributed by SPV GmbH. After that, PRAGER HANDGRIFF went on tour in Germany, France and Belgium. In February, 1997, PRAGER HANDGRIFF attacked the audience again with their fourth album,"Schlagende Wetter", which reached the top-twenty of the german alternative charts. In 1998, the first E.P of PRAGER HANDGRIFF "XV Jahre" followed and the band started working hard on their fifth full-time-album called "Schindluder". In 1999 Stefan Schäfer & Volker Rathmann decided to remix their old demo-tapes songs and release a new compilation with the old songs in new style called "Fossile Brennstoffe" followed by gigs on the biggest festivals throughout Europe. In 2002, the band had their first release in the USA called "Neurotix". Its a best of compilation with a few unreleased remixes. Their brand new album called "1000 Feuer" with 10 songs in a great new style should be out soon. Stolen & edited from their site by: Mikki 10/02 More at: |
