Östro 430:

In December of 1979, four medical students from Düsseldorf came togather to form the punkish all female band Östro 430. They were Martina Weith (vocals, saxophone), Bettina Flörchinger (Keyboards), Marita Welling (percussions), and Monika Kellermann. Shortly after forming, Monika left the band and was replaced by Olivia Casali (Bass).

In May of 1980, the band made their first appearance at the Schmier-Festival. In autumn of that year, Östro 430 contributed 3 tracks on the Schallmauer-Sampler ("Sexueller Notstand", "Triebtäter" and "Too Cool").

The band's first release was an 8-track EP called Durch dick & dünn in 1981. Within a few months of its release, Olivia and Marita left the band. They were replaced by Gisela Hottenroth Birgit Köster.

In the summer of 1982, work began on the bands first "real" album, Weiber wie wir, which was released in 1983. -Nick Diak 11/02
