![]() Modern Talking:Thomas Anders & Dieter Bohlen met in 1982 & with the 1984 release of "You're my Heart, You're my Soul", Modern Talking were born. The song went straight to #1 & it eventually did the same in 35 countries worldwide. This was then followed by "You Can Win if you Want", "Cheri, Cheri Lady", "Brother Louie" & "Atlantis is Calling". All hit #1 & "Brother Louie" went gold in Canada.Differences developed, however, between Dieter, Thomas & Thomas's wife, Nora... differences that couldn't be reconciled & the two disbanded in 1987 after 5 #1 hits & over 60 million albums sold... It wasn't until 11 years later, in 1998, that they decided to make a comeback, setting their differences aside. Their first appearance since the 80's was on Germany's biggest TV show, "Wessen, das...?" with Thomas Gottschalk. They performed a mix of all their old hits & record sales soared yet again. They then put out an album titled, appropriately enough, "Back for Good". It had all their old hits re-recorded & re-mixed using modern technology & sold nearly 6 million copies worldwide. It spent 5 weeks at #1 & remained on the charts for over a year. The next album, "Alone" also went straight to # 1. "Year of the Dragon" came out in 2000, the title being based on the chinese calendar. It went to #3 & the single, "China in her Eyes" sold well... Their newest is called "America" & came out in 2001. -Mikki 6/02 More at: Official I guess... |
