Once upon a time...

Michel's fascination with electronic music meant that he wanted to begin taking an active involvement in the scene at quite an early stage. After pottering about on his own for a while, he found the ideal partner in the shape of Peter, then a work colleague, whose technical expertise was just what he was looking for. The two gradually put together a fairly impressive studio that allowed them to explore their ideas in practice.

A number of short-lived projects eventually gave way to Metallspürhunde (English: Metalhounds) at the end of the 90s, with the core duo of Michel and Peter being joined by Paul, who injected valuable creativity into the project. 1999 saw the release of their first album, produced by Patrick Sayer and featuring various guest artists.

Patrick became the band's full-time guitarist in 2000, and the "Hounds" have recorded all their tracks at his studio. Patrick has garnered experience recording and performing with Lacrimosa and Christian Dörge/Syria, among others.

Metallspürhunde put out two promo CDs in 2000/2001, including well-received remixes of the songs "Erntezeit" and "Herrenmensch" by Basle-based "sound designer" Niki Neecke. It was at about the same time that the band first came into contact with singer Alev Emine, leading to their first collaboration on "Teenage Years".

Marion joined in autumn 2001, initially just acting as manager and later taking up bass duties in the stage line-up. Metallspürhunde enjoyed considerable success in Germany during 2002, appearing on festivals bills alongside such leading acts as Apoptygma Berzerk, Covenant and Das Ich.

At the end of 2002, the band started work on a new album, one that is turning out to be their most ambitious and demanding project to date. Niki Neeke will again contribute to the new disc with top-notch remixes of "Ganz Allein" and "Maschinenstaat", while the song "Probes" marks a further chapter in the band's relationship with Alev. Their newest album, "Blut und Spiele" just came out.
