![]() ![]() June 1980, in a small industrial-mining town called Trbovlje, the infamous group Laibach was formed. Never before has a group been seen from one extreme to the next. In the early 80ies, a ban was put on the name "Laibach", making any concerts clandestine. In concert, Laibach would run a projector of their films, and have exhibits for their unique artwork. The early Laibach material was viewed as communist, and then later as Nazi! However, many of Laibach's artwork is based on anti-Nazi artwork. The group uses their brand of music and art to spread their ideas. Example: The album Kapital is about the horrors of capitalism. Nato address the Yugoslav war, and Jesus Christ Superstars addresses religion. Laibach has the unique ability to cover a song, and distort it to reflect their image. Such bands as Prince, Europe, Beatles, and Andrew Lloyd Weber have fallen victim to the powerful entity that is Laibach. -Nick Diak 11/01 More at: |
