![]() Japanische Kampfhörspiele:Japanische Kampfhörspiele happens to be:
Christof Kather - drums Shy long-time drug addict Christof Kather, who'd always suffered from severe psychotic tendencies, met Klaus Nicodem back in 1998. Together they started their project Japanische Kampfhörspiele. In the 2 years prior to that event Christof had been busy with an analogue 8-track-recorder and a CD player experimenting with samples and loops. In doing so he unintentionally found and set the primordial formula for what was to become their unique grindpunk sound. Consequently, a lot of the material from that period was then revived and re-recorded with Klaus, at first without any vocals. In the next 4 years the two original JaKas proceeded to incorporate lyrics into their demos, always in German. They became a "real" band in 2001/02 when first another guitarist, later a bass player and a singer were added to the original line-up. Their decision to add another vocalist in 2003 not only paved the way for their extraordinary live shows, but also contibuted to their uniqueness within the scene. They released seven self-distributed demos and an internet-only ep on which they interpreted songs by DEATH, A-HA, EXPLOITED, SLAYER, SLIME and ATC. Two albums via a small Swiss label followed before they started their collaboration with Bastardized Recordings who released the highly acclaimed "Fertigmensch"-ep and its stunning follower "Hardcore aus der Ersten Welt". JaKa are steadily playing shows all over Europe and expect further releases from the genre bending grindpunkers (like a cover album) through Bastardized Recordings. -Mikki 6/05 More at: |
