eXTReMe Tracker

: Five school friends from Bochum formed Eisheilig in the summer of 1998 with the intent to play what they wanted & not have anyone tell them what to do. In 1999, they released a self produced 7-track demo which paid hommage to the Apokolypse with all the spiritual and sensory facets examined. This was met with overwhelming feedback and the band began looking for a suitable label. In 2000, Eisheilig played as newcomers at the Wave Gotik Treffen in Liepzig as well as the Eurorock festival in Belgium where Sonic Seducer dubbed them "this year's best band without a record deal". That status changed in November when they signed with Napalm Records.

In June, 2001, after only 3 months of work, their first studio production, the self-entitled album, "Eisheilig" was released to glowing reviews. In November, Eisheilig hit the road for a 2-week German tour with L`Ame Immortelle and Garden of Delight.

In 2003 the band started focusing on their next album. In the meantime they split with guitar player Hardy because of personal problems. Eisheilig worked the entire year on developing new songs and recording the album "Die Gärten Des Herrn" during September in Mohrmann Studios with Dennis and Heinrich Mikus producing this CD. Nothing of the melancholy and sadness of the first album is lost, yet the new songs immediately seem more rocking and more straight to the point than on the debut album. All the lyrics are written in German and leave much place for interpretation and free spirit, because although the title of the album allows an assumption of somewhat Christian topics, Eisheilig do not have a religious message. Dennis often works with Christian symbols in order to not forget that evenly besides the good there is also evil. No god without devil, no good without bad - both complement itself, and make the other one real. Update provided by Napalm Records 5/04
