![]() D-Sailors:Taken directly from their website:D-Sailors, that means a powerful mixture of Punk Rock and Melodic Hardcore combined with a touch of Ska and Reggae fever and not in the least another 1 to 1 copy of all these Californian and Scandinavian bands. With their 2000 album "Mind Dressing" they broke into a new era of melodic Punk Rock. Songs from rapidly fast to groovy, from melancholy emotional to happy and from time to time a bit of saxophone...that's the sailors' great variety. Since founded in 1996, they've been playing a lot of shows and have steadily extended their popularity in Germany. After putting out two self-produced EP's they started touring constantly in 1998 when they got signed to their current German label Vitaminepillen Records. Among other gigs, they played as support for Punk Rock bands like The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Snuff, Strung Out, U.K. Subs, Stoned, Randy, Satanic Surfers, Terrorgruppe as well as uncounted weekends and tours with their label colleagues Bambix, Tagtraum and The Wohlstandskinder. In 1998 they joined Vitaminepillen Records, one of the most popular German Punk Rock Labels, which is distributed by Zomba Germany. Their debut longplayer "A New Project" made them the first representatives of Melodycore "Made in Germany" on this label and launched the D-Sailors starship into the wide dimensions of punk universe. In 2000/2001 they put the band on a 8 month hiatus because leadsinger, guitarist and saxophone player Uli moved to California to work for the popular independent pop-punk label Lookout Records. Before he left they recorded six songs for the split-record "Multilateral" with the young , ambitioned and kickass rocking Nitrominds which was released in September 2001 on Vitaminepillen Records. To promote the split-record both bands toured Europe for a couple of weeks together in fall 2001 which was a big success. In February 2002 D-Sailors got invited for a tour with the Terrorgruppe and in summer 2002 they toured Brazil for 3 weeks where "Multilateral" was released besides the "Mind Dressing" in the meantime on the label of Andre Nitromind Nitroala Records. Brazil was a blast: sold out clubs, TV-shows, freaking girls and Rock&Roll 3 weeks long. Back in Germany they hooked up with the publishing company 2Music of rockguitarist Harry Alfter (BRINGS) who is going to produce the next D-Sailors songs. Through this connection they found their way into the roster of the ambitioned booking agency Pulse-Entertainment who has taken responsibility for their live appearance in Germany. Above this there will be their first release in Japan on Imperial Records in June 2003. It will be called "Rewind" and it is kind of a best of album with songs from their German and Brazilian releases including new and unreleased stuff. But still you should check them out live because they will even kick more asses on stage than they already do on their records...If you are able to catch them near your town, go there or die. Thanx to all the friends who joint the fleet of sailors relation-ships !!! More at: |
