![]() Deichkind:Sent to me by Jan Schlüter... not sure who he is, management maybe, but he's my new best friend :)In the beginning: The talented three tenors (Buddy, Malte and Philipp) teamed up with producer Sebastian Hacket aka. Sebi Professionell who learned his job via Boogieman (Boogie Park Studios) by doing recording sessions for nearly all German Rap Artist and several Pop Production. This creative joint-venture is a vivid and musical quadruple. The ground was set by their very first single, "Kabeljau Inferno", and an extremly freaky no-budget video. Precise costs were approximately round 150 Euros ! This video was shot at Hamburg's famous Reeperbanh in a tiny fucked-up bluescreen studio and produced by the four men from Hamburg themselves plus their long time friend Niclas Weise! After a stunning debut album called "Bitte Ziehen Sie Durch" the four guys breaked easily into the German Top 20. This was in May 2000. Their first single, "Bon Voyage" was a Top 11 seller in Germany and celebrated wide club and massive airplay. It's a classic by now ! Even the Bloodhound Gang was playing that song as a cover version on festivals in 2000- idiots. This success was followed by their second single, "Komm Schon", and a brilliant, lazy and smooth, sexy video. They even dropped a third single, "Weit Weg", featuring lovely and soulful Bintia from Berlin. All singles charted in Germany so far and the album was Top 20 in Austria and Switzerland. They even got some of their tracks on compilations in Japan and Norway. In September, 2002, DEICHKIND came back with their second album called "Noch 5 Minuten Mutti". They created a whole new flavour and breaking barriers for so called Deutsch Rap, including some strange and Dadaist-style skits like "Taranthula In The Darkness" and even shocked the fans with a nice bottleneck guitar piece called "Da Wo". The innovative Top 10 single is called "Limit", an uptempo tweaky Electro-House tune and the "LIMIT" video was nominated for "Best Video" at The Echo in 2003 ! And topping it with a vinyl-only Single featuring remixes by Hamburg House Honcho BORIS DLUGOSCH and Techno-Wunderkind JOHANNES HEIL, the single is announced to be released in the UK via Timo Maas Label Hope Recordings later this year. The near future will bring some extra nice solo debut albums by MALTE and BUDDY plus some Remixes by DEICHKIND for Punjabi MC "Jogi", Skeelo "I Wish" and others, plus diverse Production work-outs by SEBI and PHILIPP for several other bands. There is no limit for DEICHKIND ! -Mikki 6/03 More at: |
