ASP:A composite of information from ASP's homepage:In the summer of 1999, ASP and Matthias started the band, ASP, and by the end of the year had completed their first ever promo CD which featured the songs "Schwarzer Schmetterling", "Sing Child" and "Teach Me War". Some months later, in 2000, ASP and Matthias signed a contract with the independent label Trisol-Music and in the summer of this year Tossi, Himmi, Max and Holger joined the band. With this new line-up, ASP gave their live debut at the Gothicworld Festival in Geretzhoven on June 30, 2000 and Pit joined the choirboys. By the end of this year, on November 3, ASP released their debut album, "Hast Du mich vermisst - Der Schwarze Schmetterling Teil 1". In the spring of 2001, ASP performed at several festivals, including Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig and Ostara-Festival in Karlsruhe and in October their second album, ":Duett - Der Schwarze Schmetterling Teil 2" came out, the release party being held at the Kulturruine in Karlsruhe. Their first fansite "Singchild.de" also went online but is no longer accessible as far as I can tell. In December of this same year ASP organized their own festival called "Zusammenkunft" and featured, amongst others, bands such as L'Ame Immortelle, Janus and Chamber. At the end of this year they played various concerts including Dark Nation Day in Vienna and as support for Sigue Sigue Sputnik at the Zwischenfall in Bochum. In 2002, the band performed at more notable concerts/festivals including Nosferatour with Umbra et Imago and Tanzwut as well as the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig, and at Chamber's Release Party in Frankfurt. On June 28 of this year they also realesed "Die Zusammenkunft" EP which featured numerous guest singers and mixers, such as Samsas Traum, Sarah Noxx and Mozart of Umbra et Imago. On February 26, 2003, their single for "Weltunter" was released while on tour with L'Ame Immortelle and Unheilig. On July 12, community members of Singchild.de participated in the first ever ASP'ecue, meeting around a campfire. Shortly after that was the release of "Weltunter - Der Schwarze Schmetterling Teil 3", the band's third album, which was released on August 18. Thirteen days later the single for "Stille der Nacht" was released followed by a Weltunter tour with Xandria in October. There was also an ASP fan convention at the Top Act in Zapfendorf on November 21, 2003. In March of 2004, the distributors EFA announced their insolvency and everything ASP had published so far became unavailable overnight. But the band carried forth and in April made their UK headline debut in Leeds at Beyond the Veil III and in May their single, "Ich will brennen" was released. At this time ASP also started a campaign and published a petition against Germany's copyright ammendment. During the open air season, ASP performed at M'era Luna Festival, Woodstage Festival, Castle Rock-, Dark Dance Festival. Unfortunately, sometime then Max and Holger left the band. In August of this year there was the second ASP'ecue and one month later the band launched the "Hässlich" Creativity Contest, inviting singers, mixers and photographers to get up and take part. Albums 1-3 were also re-released with bonus tracks and in December, the band played on the "Du bist nie allein" tour with Porn. In April, 2005, ASP released the limited "Hunger" EP to coincide with the "Hunger" tour, April 20-30, with Nuuk and on July 4, their fourth album, "Aus der Tiefe - Der Schwarze Schmetterling Teil 4" came out. "Aus der Tiefe" reached the top 50 in the German album charts and became "Album of the year 2005" in Orkus Magazine's readers' polls. In October, from 20-29, they were busy with their "Aus der Tiefe" tour with Seelenzorn. In the spring of 2006, the single for "Werben" came out & the band was also, for the first time available on vinyl. Not for the first time, the single's package and adverts campaign revolutionized Gothic aesthetics. The Creativity Contest "Hässlich" CD was also finally published, featuring all the winners and the acoustic CD "Humility" was released in collaboration with Chamber, to give a foretaste of the upcoming "Once in a Lifetime" acoustic family tour with Chamber that took place in April 14-24. There is some news from this year, also, 2007 but I don't have specific dates or information. "Requiembryo" is apparently a double album of ASP hits and comes in three editions (please go to the website for further info on this). There was also apparently a contest for a title track of the newest release by ASP: "Right on time for the start of the coming tour ASP will be releasing a new 10-track CD with 'Nie Mehr!' as the title track, which was chosen by you." -Mikki 11/07 More at: |
