Armageddon Dildos: Armageddon Dildos are one of the electro pioneers to come out of Germany in the late 80ies that have influenced the genre immensely and are still considered to be one of the most powerful electro-industrial bands around. The band is known not to take itself too seriously either, which is evident in their name which is slang for Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs).

The band was formed in 1988 in Kassel by Uwe Kanka (vox) and Dirk Krause (synth). An unlikely duo, as Uwe was associated with the new wave and punk movements while Dirk was associated with synthiepop, the two began to write energetic songs.

The debut single of the Armageddon Dildos was the EBM dance floor hit East-West in 1990, which was released with the aide of the Frankfurt techno-pope Talla 2XLC. In 1991 their debut album That’s Armageddon was released, (maxi singles for Nevermind and Resist where also released this year too). The Armageddon Dildos also took part in a musical showcase in New York which attracted the attention of Sire Records.

In 1992 the Dildos released the single Homicidal Maniac to pave the way for their second album, Homicidal Dolls, which was released in 1993 under Sire/Warner Bros. Records. This album was a step in a harder EBM-industrial style.

Another music seminar in 1993 allowed the Dildos to play with other industrial acts such as Sister Machine Gun and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult. The Armageddon Dildos later signed with the infamous Wax Trax label and in conjunction with producer Keith Auerbach (producer of Ministry and Revolting Cocks) released the Dildos’ third album Lost in February of 1995. This album was heavy-guitar laden while being danceable at the same time.

In 1996 Uwe and Dirk worked in Dusseldorf and London with producers Andy Kill and Bob Kraus (worked with Pet Shop Boys and David Bowie) to release their fourth album Speed.

In 2000 Dirk left Armageddon Dildos. Uwe began working on the newest album, Morgengrauen, and enlisted the assistance of female Swedish vocalist Malin. On this album the aggressiveness of guitars from their Lost and Homicidal Dolls are gone, to be replaced with more emphasis on electro dance, with tracks that range from soft female vocals to powerful dancing club hits.
