Abwärts:

Abwärts is a techno-pop band from Hamburg. Their lineup is:

• Axel Dill - drums
• Mark Chung - bass
• Margitta - vocals
• Frank Strauss - percussion
• Frank Ziegert - guitar

In the mid 80ies, some members of Abwärts teamed up with Raymond Watts of PIG, (Raymond is also noted for his work with KMFDM), to form a project called Rotting Sausage. They play just one live show in 1985 and never officially released anything. However, there was one track from the Rotting Sausage project that was 15 minutes long, it was called "Ich Brache ein Schnitzel".

Abwärts have has a slew of releases, most of them being in the 80ies: Computerstaat and Amok Koma (both 1980), Der Westen Ist Einsam (1982), Abwärts (1987), Ich Seh Die Schiffe Den Fluss Herunterfahren (1990), Comic Krieg (1991), and Herzlich Willkommen Im Irrenhaus (1993). -Nick Diak 5/02
